LENA WOLF ROTHMAN

“Wherever color or light are present, where humans interact, where people engage in their work or daily pursuits, where landscapes reveal interesting line, moods, and color, I see life.  For in the light we behold beauty, joy and color.  Herein lies God’s creation.  My goal as an artist is to express this through the subjects I paint.

I first studied Classical Realism at Atelier Lack with Richard Lack and Stephen Gjertson.   Later I studied with Jeff Hurinenko, a Dutch-Flemish portrait painter, Joseph Paquet, a plein air painter and at the Florence Academy of Art.

I have exhibited at the International Market Square, the Jewish Community Center of St. Paul, the Beard Gallery in Minneapolis, the Romanian Church of  St. Paul, the Kelley Gallery, the St. Croix Valley Artbarn, the Stillwater Library, Gallery 310 in Stillwater, the Sabes Jewish Community Center in Minneapolis, and the Zephyr Theatre in Stillwater.  In 2008 I exhibited my painting of Cristina at the Richeson Gallery as part of the international exhibit, “Richeson 75: Figure, Portrait 2008 Competition.

I am a member of the Portrait Society of America.
